Trumping Trump and Lessons
Here, when an opportunity to serve as a leader of either a small group of friends, in an association, committee, political, academic or even religious positions.. you dare not say it out if you are interested. people tag you as proud or just too forward. Even if you knew you have the capabilities to move that unit forward..you have to let someone nominate you or you go arrange behind doors how you would be nominated... this had made many drivers of our community shuttles to be passengers in the back shuttle's back seat.
We even have the culture of nominating people who clearly say they are not interested (although many are..but have to say that so as not to look proud or too willing.. seriously!)
This singular culture of not allowing whoever is capable and willing to lead is killing us and will continue as long as we appoint people based on nepotism...
It's not right.. once you have an open opportunity.. ask who is interested and if you choose anyone and the fellow says no.. then let it be no.. not this psychopathic culture of hailing ..it's we we.. and pushing people to do what they can't do it are not willing to do...
I learnt just one thing from Trump.. you can actually say it as it is.. you don't have to beat around the bush.. let people know your stand about anything and everything. .even if it's against the norm or conventions..
If there's an opportunity to serve.. and you are interested. . SAY IT and go for it... rather than shying away and then pointing accusing fingers or living in regret ...
Let's stop this idea of pushing people to serve by force... next time you wanna choose for a key position, please feed in only the interested people.. the most skillful people without zeal and passion often lead the biggest woes and frustration.
We don't need mediocres
