Naira FOREX saga - #IbelieveGod

Image
L-R: Justice Mukovhe, Toyosi Craig (at South Africa national youth day celebration) Lt. Chief Obafemi Awolowo said,''it's therefore with a brave heart, with confident hope  and faith in my unalterable destiny, that I go from twilight into the darkness, unshaken in my trust in the providence of God that a glorious dawn will come on the morrow'' Woe to man whose heart has not learned while young to hope, to love and to put his trust in God and life. Trust in yourself  and you are doomed to disappointment. But I say .. trust in God and he will restore the captivity of Nigerian economy 1. Nigeria allows Naira to float against US dollar 2. CBN Suspends Dollar To Naira Trades Till Monday 3. Naira Firms To N355 Per Dollar As CBN Mops Up Liquidity 4.Naira expected to crash against dollar on interbank market 5. T ell Mr. President that the news Money laundery trial doesn't  amuse us anymore. .  what many don't know is that tomatoes are costly because Dangote opened just one world class tomato processing plant in the North.. He was just trying to help our industrialisation but unknown to us that we do not produce food stuff enough for our consumption. We were thought in high school agricultural science that our problem is not production but storage.. IT WAS A BIG LIE.. we don't produce anything in enough capacity.. Just one world class plant, things went upside down.. If anyone who has the capacity to get the fund to process  cassava (with the right plan and technical abilities).. Garri go cost pass rice.. in quest to help, the fellow would have created more problem in qoute. just saying.. The lesson however is that Agriculture is still the only sure and reliable means to sustain our economy and reduce hunger as well as poverty.. Lets leave the tomato argument an

Trumping Trump and Lessons

Here, when an opportunity to serve as a leader of either a small group of friends, in an association, committee, political, academic or even religious positions.. you dare not say it out if you are interested. people tag you as proud or just too forward. Even if you knew you have the capabilities to move that unit forward..you have to let someone nominate you or you go arrange behind doors how you would be nominated... this had made many drivers of our community shuttles to be passengers in the back shuttle's back seat. We even have the culture of nominating people who clearly say they are not interested (although many are..but have to say that so as not to look proud or too willing.. seriously!) This singular culture of not allowing whoever is capable and willing to lead is killing us and will continue as long as we appoint people based on nepotism... It's not right.. once you have an open opportunity.. ask who is interested and if you choose anyone and the fellow says no..

Lessons from Africa: who is doing who? A case of coal neglect in Nigeria

While South Afica's SASOL boast of a world class edgecutting technology used for producing petrol (PMS) from coal at a competitive price per litre. Do you know that Nigeria currently import coals of various grades and qualities. But Nigeria has a large coal deposit with the potential for coal exports to countries such as China, Israel, Japan, Ghana, United States, Europe and India. Currently Nigeria's coal can achieve the following clear coal technologies with increased efficiency and reduced CO emissions 1. Magneto hydrodynamic electricity generation 2. Super critical boiler 3. Integrated gasification combined cycle systems 4. Advanced integrated gasification, including fuel cell 5. Advanced pulverized and pressurized pulverized fuel combustion 6. Atmospheric fluidised bed combustion and pressurized pulverized fuel combustion.

Lessons from Africa. South Africa is self sufficient in all major agric. products

Image
Photo: Vineyards sit beneath hills at a farm near Stellenbosch While 12% of South Africa's land can be used for crop production, only 22% of this is high-potential arable land. The greatest limitation is the availability of water, with uneven and unreliable rainfall. Around 1.3-million hectares are under irrigation, and around 50% of South Africa's water is used for agriculture. South Africa is not only self-sufficient in virtually all major agricultural products, but is also a net  food exporter. It is also the leading exporter of protea cut flowers, which account for more than half  of proteas sold on the world market. Other important export groups are wine, citrus, maize, grapes, sugar, apples, pears and quinces. Important export products include agroprocessing products, such as under-matured ethyl alcohol and hides and skins. Decision analysis of petrol (PMS) subsidy in Nigeria

SYSTEMS APPROACH TO THE SUBSIDY REMOVAL... "Decision suggetions" and implication in 2016 The problem in Petrol can be modeled as- "TRAGEDY of COMMONS" - Agents use common limited resource to profit individually. As the use of the resource is not controlled, the agents would like to continuously raise their benefits. The resource is therefore used more and more and the revenues of the agents are decreasing. The agents are intensifying their exploitation until the resource is completely used up or seriously damaged. #The previous government's approach to oil problems however can be modeled as- "FIXES THAT FAIL" - The problem approached by some fix (a specific solution- "subsidy") with immediate positive effect. Nonetheless, the “side effects” of this solution turn out in the future to corruption and depletion of reserve. However, as Nigerians who have seen alot and are going through pains and hardships #What WE Like can be modeled as-
