JOHANNESBURG - A 52-year-old man was shot dead and his son wounded during an attack outside the Marlboro Gautrain Station.

Police say the attack happened minutes after the deceased picked up his 20-year-old son from the station last night.

Police spokesperson Kim Cloete says investigations are at an early stage.

She says it's still unknown if this was an attempted hijacking or a planned attack.

“As they were leaving in their vehicle, two males approached them on the corner of Lennon and Laduma streets and fired two shots through the window. The father died at the scene while the son was taken to hospital.”
