On interview with Anti-Gbege Philip said:
“My research focuses on rediscovering, through a
multidisciplinary approach, the dying oral tradition and cultural practices of
the Ham and cognate groups of north central Nigeria. Oral tradition, though
often neglected, has shown to be a vibrant mode of communication in African
communities in the past and in contemporary time, thus, the drive to carry out
such a research”
Philip helped in the creation of a cultural outfit for the
Ham and has helped in the process of putting the language into writing. Philip is a former president of the Association of Nigerian
Students at Stellenbosch University (ANSSU).
A man like Philip should be given a national honour in
Nigeria. His passion and zeal for the protection of our heritage and culture is
non-sequitur
